Labiatae (also known as Lamiacae)

  • Largest family group
  • Prefer Mediterranean climate
  • Rich yield of essential oils from leaves and flowers of plant -
    easily released on crushing. The plants thrive in dry rocky and chalky
    soils with plenty of sunshine
  • Generally properties of this group tend to be warming, stimulating, strengthening, awakening.
  • Many are immune stimulants
